FRAMEWORK
Atlantic Area's maritime heritage represents a valuable cultural, historical and identity asset, but faces significant challenges related to the loss of traditional knowledge, ageing communities and its declining appeal to younger generations.
In this context, the AWAVES project proposes a transnational approach to position maritime heritage as a driver of innovation, social cohesion and regenerative tourism.
The project focuses on developing cultural, educational and technological experiences that strengthen the identity of coastal communities, promote the transfer of knowledge between generations and create new opportunities linked to blue economy.
In parallel, it aims to develop replicable solutions that contribute to the sustainable enhancement of Europe's maritime heritage and to coastal territories resilience.
PROPOSED SOLUTION
Development an integrated ecosystem for maritime heritage enhancement, combining digital technologies, social innovation and participatory methodologies.
The main initiatives include:
- Creation of sustainable cultural and tourism experiences, supported by interactive digital platforms that promote access to, dissemination and enhancement of maritime heritage for diverse audiences.
- Use of augmented reality, artificial intelligence and digital applications to create new ways of engaging citizens, tourists and maritime heritage, making content more engaging, personalised and inclusive.
- Promotion of a collaborative approach involving public authorities, research centres, cultural organisations and local communities to develop heritage management and enhancement models that can be replicated across other Atlantic regions, contributing to project's outcomes long-term sustainability.
CCG/ZGDV CONTRIBUTION
CCG/ZGDV is responsible for developing innovative digital solutions, including interactive platforms, augmented reality applications and artificial intelligence tools that enhance the maritime heritage interpretation, preservation and dissemination.
The main activities include:
- Development of immersive, accessible technologies and experiences tailored to the needs of different user profiles.
- Ensuring the sustainability and continuous evolution of the digital infrastructures developed within the project, supporting their technological update and adaptation to future requirements.
- Promoting knowledge transfer to project partners and end users, fostering the adoption of innovative digital solutions in the cultural heritage and sustainable tourism sectors.
Through these activities, CCG/ZGDV strengthens the project's innovation dimension, contributing to the impact, scalability and replicability of the solutions developed across different Atlantic Area territories.
