Open Day CCG/ZGDV brought together government, industry and academia for a day dedicated to technological innovation

The CCG/ZGDV Institute held its Open Day on 3 November, an event that opened its doors to the community to showcase, in a transparent and participatory manner, the work carried out under the PRR – Recuperar Portugal Mobilising Agendas and the Interface Mission. The initiative brought together government representatives, industry stakeholders and members of the academic sector, reinforcing the role of CCG/ZGDV as a national reference Centre for Technology and Innovation.

The opening session was attended by João Rui Ferreira, Secretary of State for the Economy, Pedro Dominguinhos, President of the National PRR Monitoring Commission, João Ferreira, Coordinator of the Interface Mission, and Alexandra Vilela, President of Compete 2030. In their addresses, they highlighted the strategic importance of applied research, collaborative innovation and knowledge transfer for the country’s competitiveness.

Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to attend a keynote speech by Paulo Cunha, Member of the European Parliament, who reflected on the role of technological innovation in the development of the European economy, emphasising the contribution of technological institutions such as CCG/ZGDV to industrial autonomy and resilience.

The programme also included roundtable discussions on topics such as smart cities, sustainable mobility and the digital transformation of industry, featuring organisations such as Efacec, TUB, Ubiwhere, Produtech, Sonae Arauco, Vista Alegre, Colep PK and Cotec. These moments of debate encouraged collective reflection on the challenges and opportunities facing businesses in the context of digital and climate transitions.

One of the highlights of the Open Day was the inauguration of the CCG/ZGDV Project Demonstration Space, where technological solutions developed in the fields of generative artificial intelligence, collaborative robotics, medical imaging and digital transformation of industrial processes were presented. In the afternoon, exploratory projects funded by the Interface Mission were also showcased, demonstrating the institute’s ability to connect science, technology and industry.

The event concluded with the celebration of the 32nd anniversary of CCG/ZGDV, symbolising more than three decades of commitment to innovation, cooperation and value creation for the economy and society. CCG/ZGDV expresses its gratitude to all partners, entities and participants, reaffirming its commitment to continue developing impactful technology and strengthening the bridge between knowledge and industry.
