Welcome to the web site of the Computer Graphics Center!

The Association CCG/ZGDV - Center for Computer Graphics (CCG, www.ccg.pt) was founded in 1993 and established at the University of Minho in 2001 as a research, development, training and consulting entity, a private and non-profit organization, and integrated in the Portuguese Scientific System.

Headquartered at the University of Minho, in the Azurém Campus in Guimarães, CCG has a young and dynamic team that consists of more than fifty employees and fifteen external researchers. It´s also has support from founding members and constituents - the University of Minho and ZGDV - Zentrum für Graphische Datenverabeitung (German Institute for Computer Graphics, Darmstadt, Germany) and twenty-three members, from business and associative area, as well as participation in four companies and six trade associations.

Autonomously or as a strategic partner, the CCG positions itself from its origins as an 'interface' between sources of knowledge (universities) and economy (Business), providing services and technology transfer in technological fields related to computer graphics, information technology, communication and electronics and its applications.
Managed in business logic, although inserted in academia and research, the CCG has been developing its technology transfer activities for the economy on a local, regional and international levels through the participation in partnership projects in various countries.

The CCG through its current connection to the network GraphicsMedia.net (www.graphicsmedia.net), as strategic partner is in a privileged position to access to the latest technological innovations worldwide.

CCG has a wide experience regarding development and implementation of projects. Its activity is targeted to the following areas of applied research:

- CVIG: Computer Vision, Interaction and Graphics;

- EPMQ – IT: Engineering Process, Maturity & Quality;

- PIU: Perception, Interaction and Usability;

- UMC: Urban and Mobile Computing;

- VADS: Virtual Actors And Digital Storytelling

With the support of the Portuguese State – measure 3.1. Stimulation of Technological Systems, Training and Quality - Ministry of Economy and Innovation - in 2009, the CCG has taken another step in its strategy, and invested 3.8 million Euros in constructing a new building of 2.500 m2, equipped with edge technological infrastructures, in modern facilities and located in the campus of Azurém at the University of Minho, in Guimarães. In this infrastructure there is a Virtual Theater with 60 seats, the Datacenter and the CAVE - (Cave Automatic Virtual Environment) 3x3x3 m with 3 sides. This equipment is essential to support CCG’s activities and projects in leading edge technology areas such as in simulation, automation, virtual reality and general applied Computer Graphics.

In this website you can find detailed information about our various activities.

Come and participate in this great project!
