CCG integrates the GraphicsMedia.net network

GraphicsMedia.net, the International Network for the Cooperation in Applied Research in Computer Graphics, Multimodal-Multimedia Technologies, and Visual Interactive Digital Media Technologies, was created on December 16th, 2010, with Headquarters in Kaiserslautern (Germany). Six international reference partners of Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Panama will start a strong collaboration network for international applied research.

In this context, several international centres have identified the importance to strengthen their visions and synergies in science, technology, knowledge transfer and innovation, beyond the informal relations that are anyhow established due to particular collaborations, and beyond exclusively scientific networks. For this, these centres consider necessary to create and steer a formal organization that can provide the means to keep a robust network, reach strategic goals, share a common vision and define together a strong model of collaboration.
These applied research centres will create an international organization (non-profit Network) that can coordinate the activities of research and development, the technology transfer and the exploitation in Computer Graphics, Multimodal-Multimedia Technologies, and Visual Interactive Digital Media Technologies.

In order to be excellent, best-in-kind at the local level, but at the same time be a relevant player at international level, these institutions need a global view, a critical mass, a robust collaboration framework, and a strong international presence. Thus, they will be able to shape and define their own future being proactive actors at international level in applied research and technology transfer.

The Network will have the significant participation (as advisor) of Prof. José L. Encarnação, as President of the Advisory Board. His expertise in international cooperation models for applied research and his prominent position, connectivity and knowledge in the Computer Graphics community are an important asset of the new Network.
The Network will clearly have an international profile, and an open character to incorporate especially other R&D centres that share its vision, mission and values. Also companies and other institutions closely related to the objectives of the organization will be invited to join.

Objectives
1. Share a common vision to define applied research strategies and technology transfer models in order to be best in kind locally and a relevant proactive actor globally
2. Identify research and market opportunities and synergies within the network and outside the network
3. Coordinate European and International/multinational projects strategies for the members
